Still no word on the permanent name for the Utah Hockey Club, so while we wait for the next round of voting or whatever comes next, we spun up a new concept for Utah Mammoth. In follow up to our conceptual artwork for Utah Yeti, Utah Blizzard, Utah Venom, and Utah Outlaws. here is our AI generated take on Utah Mammoth.
I’m going to yet again repeat my caveats from the previous posts. First, no one here is a professional graphic designer. Don’t expect something polished and perfect.
Second, these were created using free tools online, such as Microsoft AI Image Generator. No one sat down and meticulously sketched these out and edited to that end. These were just the best we got from the AI.
What We Like
The AI spat out a bunch of very weird stuff this go around. I’m talking a mammoth with three tusks, phallic trunks, and asymmetrical strangeness. When this concept appeared, I liked it a lot because it was actually clean and minimal.
The font is very plain and could use some decorating to make it interesting, but I do like the font itself. It seems to match with the name.
The tusk forms a U shape for Utah which I like. The shape of it gives it the illusion of moving forward, similar to what you put behind a puck to show it is moving, which is a nice touch.
What We Don’t Like
The spiky area along the face seems like a missed opportunity. In the same way that the Outlaws concept incorporated the mountain scape into the hat, there was a way to do it here too which would have been cool.
And as mentioned, this text needs to be spruced up a bit to be interesting. Nice enough font, but a single color with nothing else is kind of lacking.
Color Variations
I thought the red scheme looked best with this concept for some reason, but it looks pretty clean regardless of which color palette you prefer.
Our Verdict
Would I be disappointed with Utah Mammoth? Not at all. The name works and is pretty cool. Like Yeti, it’s easy to get too messy or detailed in the logo. So if Mammoth is the name, something simple and minimalist like this concept is what I’d like to see.
