1) The Preseason has ended. Utah Hockey Club finished with six wins and two losses. After starting with 64 players at training camp, the team will have to submit it’s opening season roster on Monday, October 7. Head coach Andre “Bear” Tourigny stated: “I think all the guys we have right now are NHL players, that’s the way I see it. We don’t have guys who don’t deserve to be on an NHL roster. They all deserve it….We will have a really good player who won’t play opening night, and that’s good for the organization.”
2) On September 20, 2024 the Utah Hockey Club announced that 21-year-old forward Dylan Guenther had been signed to an 8-year contract. In four preseason games Guenther scored four goals and had two assists.
3) On September 30, 2024 Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) announced that many concession options at the Delta Center for Utah Hockey Club and Utah Jazz games would receive a price reduction. Hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and ice cream will be $3, and a bottle of water will be $2.
4) On October 4, 2024 Clayton Keller was named the first captain in Utah Hockey Club history. At a press conference for the announcement the 26-year-old Keller said: ““I’m grateful for this opportunity and want to thank the entire organization for believing in me. I understand it’s a privilege to be a captain in the NHL, and a huge honor to know that management, coaches, and my teammates have the belief in me to lead this team.”
5) The season has arrived and the Chicago Blackhawks will be in Utah on October 8 for the first game of the year.
6) ESPN will be broadcasting a tripleheader on October 8 starting with the St Louis Blues at the Seattle Kraken at 2:30 p.m. MDT, followed by the Boston Bruins at Stanley Cup Champions the Florida Panthers at 5 p.m. and then the Chicago Blackhawks will be in Utah Hockey Club’s first opponent game at 8 p.m. ESPN will be broadcasting outside of the Delta Center beginning at 2 p.m. and that broadcast will feature NHL legends Mark Messier and PK Subban.
7) As part of the inaugural game celebration and festivities, Shaboozey will perform a free concert outside of the Delta Center at 5:30 p.m.
8) Utah Hockey Club president Chris Armstrong made reference to it snowing inside of the Delta Center on October 8, so plan accordingly.
After the inaugural game against Chicago, Utah will travel to the east coast for games against the New York Islanders (Thursday October 10, 5:30 p.m. MDT); the New York Rangers (Saturday October 12, 5 p.m. MTD); and the New Jersey Devils (Monday October 14, 11 a.m. MDT).
